Setting Up GoHighLevel for Missed-Call Recovery
A walkthrough of the 5-step SMS automation flow I built for Louisiana trade contractors.
The core flow is straightforward. When a call goes unanswered, GoHighLevel fires an SMS within 60 seconds. The message is short, direct, and personal-sounding.
Five steps in the workflow:
1. Trigger: missed call detected 2. Wait: 30 seconds (avoid firing while they're still ringing) 3. SMS: "Hey, this is [Business]. Sorry we missed you — what can we help with?" 4. Branch: if they reply, add to pipeline. If no reply after 24h, send one follow-up. 5. Notify: ping the business owner via email
The hardest part wasn't the tech — it was getting the SMS copy right. Too formal and it reads like a bot. Too casual and it's unprofessional. Took about a dozen iterations.
